How to Install Generals Zero Hour on Android: Step by Step

To install Generals Zero Hour on Android, download the ZeroFront APK from the bot @generals_mobile_bot, allow the install, then start the trial or enter your key. After that, give the app access to all files and point it at two folders: the original Generals and Zero Hour (or a mod). Once the status turns green, the game starts. If the folders are already on your phone, the whole thing takes a few minutes.

What to prepare

• An Android phone. There's no fixed spec list; the 24-hour trial is how you check your device.
• The original Generals folder, the one with Terrain.big, Textures.big, W3D.big and the other archives.
• The Zero Hour folder, or a mod folder such as Contra 009.
• Enough free space for both folders.

The game files come from your own copy (Steam or EA App); the bot doesn't distribute them. Which folders to copy from your PC and where to find them is on the game files page. Move everything to the phone before you start.

Copying the game to your phone

1. On your PC, find the installed game folder. In Steam, right-click the game and choose Manage, then "Browse local files".
2. Connect the phone by USB in file transfer mode, or upload the archives to cloud storage.
3. Create a separate folder in internal storage, for example Games, and put the base Generals and Zero Hour folders side by side in it.
4. Check that the copy finished without errors: a partly copied .big archive can cause a launch error that's hard to trace back.

Short, clear folder names without extra nesting save time at step 5, when you pick them in ZeroFront.

Installation, step by step

Step 1. Download the APK

Open @generals_mobile_bot in Telegram and download the APK from the menu. There's no store listing: games with similar names on Google Play have nothing to do with ZeroFront.

Step 2. Allow the install

Open the downloaded file. Android will ask whether apps from this source can be installed; allow it. Play Protect may show an unknown app warning: tap "Install anyway".

Step 3. Start the trial or enter a key

On first launch, start the free trial and your 24 hours begin. If you've already paid for a subscription, enter your ZF-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX key from the bot.

Step 4. Grant all files access

Open game setup and grant "All files access". Without it ZeroFront can't read the archives from your phone's storage.

Step 5. Set the folders

• "Original Generals folder…": the base game folder.
• "Set game folder": Zero Hour or the mod folder.

Step 6. Start the game

Check the readiness checklist in the hub. When the status is green, tap "Start game". Before your first match, set your callsign in the hub: that's your multiplayer name, up to 11 characters.

Install errors and fixes

Play Protect blocks the install

The warning appears for every app that doesn't come from Google Play. Tap "Install anyway" in the dialog. If you don't see the button, expand the details in the same dialog. Only download the APK from the official bot, never from other sites.

No "All files access"

ZeroFront can't see the game folders and the status stays red. Open game setup and grant the permission again. If Android already denied it, turn it on manually in the system settings: Apps, ZeroFront, special access to files.

Pink ground

The map loads, but the ground is pink or magenta. The original Generals folder isn't set: Zero Hour takes its terrain textures from it. Open Settings, then Game data, then "Original Generals folder…" and pick the right folder.

Wrong folder selected

A common mistake is picking a folder one level too high or too low, like the shared "Games" folder or the nested "Data" folder. Pick the folder where the .big archives are. Another mix-up: base Generals set as the game folder and Zero Hour set as the original. Swap them and the status goes green.
